A large band of intrepid travellers set off from Billinghay at a very unsociable hour to connect with their ferry to Caen. Numerous hours later they arrived at Ballon tired but looking forward to the visit. Suitably refreshed, they enjoyed the varied program of events planned for them by their French families.

This included:

A Trip to an Animal Sanctuary

There were lots to see and these were mainly rescued zoo and circus animals.

Which one is in the Sanctuary and which one is visiting?

A Visit to a Snail Farm

Some of our more squeamish travellers were a little daunted by this and were not looking forward to the experience. Quite a few of the English Party were having their first taste of Les Escargots and, surprisingly enjoyed the experience. One 12 year old visiting France for the first time with her grandparents boasted that she had eaten TWO!

Eager gourmets anticipating their snail tasting!!

The Tea Dance

Once again the lighter footed among the party tripped the light fantastic at a special dance organised by our hosts.

Leisure Time

This time there was lots of leisure time with the Host Families which resulted in several excellent meals and the obligatory wine consumption.
